
Bruce D. Nelson, CPA, is the President of Vertical Solutions-an R.L. Nelson and Associates Company. He responsible for the operational and strategic vision of the company in addition to providing high end consulting services to clients.
Bruce is a CPA (Inactive) with over 12 years of financial, accounting, consulting and management experience in both public accounting and private industry. Prior to joining the firm Bruce was in Public Accounting for 3 years, most recently in Deloitte and Touche’s audit practice. As a consultant and manager with Vertical Solutions, Bruce has been involved in the planning, implementation and support of hundreds of technology related projects for small and midsized organizations throughout region.
Bruce holds both a BS in Accounting from Duquesne University and a M.S. in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. In addition to his formal educational Bruce was also a graduate of the Leadership Pittsburgh XXI Class the CORO Civic Leadership Program.
Marc is the Director of our Network Infrastructure Team. He is responsible for the Field Engineering Group that designs, implements and supports clients’ technology infrastructure. Marc assumed his current position with Vertical Solutions in August 2007.
Marc is a CPA (Inactive) with over 25 years of financial, accounting and management experience in both public accounting and private industry. He began his professional career at Epstein, Tabor and Schorr a regional CPA firm based in Downtown Pittsburgh. After 10 years in Public Accounting he left to become a principal in PDC Glass and Metal Services, Inc., a manufacturing company which produces commercial window systems and doors. During his tenure at PDC he served in the roles of CFO, COO and CEO of the organization. During that time Marc developed a passion for automation and technology and left to start his own consulting firm. That firm specialized in working with small and medium sized businesses to utilize technology to improve their business processes. In the summer of 2007 Marc merged that firm into Vertical Solutions and assumed his current position.
Marc graduated from Duquesne University with a BS in Business Administration. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. In addition to his professional responsibilities Marc is on the Board of Directors of Adat Shalom Congregation where he holds the position of Treasurer. He also serves on the Central Scholarship Committee of the United Jewish Federation.
Bob is the Director of the Sage Consulting Practice of Vertical Solutions, Bob’s primary responsibility is the marketing and sales to clients and prospects in these industries. Robert is also involved in project planning of system implementation projects.
Bob founded the consulting firm of R.L. Nelson and Associates, Inc. in 1986. Over its 20+ year history the firm grew to a multi-million dollar regional enterprise that provides information technology, accounting and ERP information systems, and customer relationship management consulting services and solutions to mid-market companies throughout the Northeast.
Bob holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University, a M.S. in Accounting from Duquesne University and an M.S. in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. His professional career started in 1980 with a regional CPA firm. While at the firm, Bob acted as the Data Processing Manager and Small Business Systems Consultant. A Certified Public Accountant, he has taught at the Community College of Allegheny County and Duquesne University's Graduate School of Business. Additionally, he has conducted seminars for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the PA Institute of CPA's and sat on several chapter committees. In 2007, Bob created Adaptive Business Coaching, LLC that focuses on working with the owners and senior management teams of small and midsized business to drive performance and improve profitability.
Bruce is the Director of the Dynamics Consulting Practice of Vertical Solutions, Bruce’s primary responsibility is the marketing and sales to clients and prospects in these industries. Bruce is also involved in project planning of system implementation projects.
Bruce has implemented systems for business in various industries since 1994. Before joining Vertical Solutions, Bruce was a consultant with Weston Enterprises and prior to Weston was a principal with the Pittsburgh firm McCrory & McDowell and managed its consulting division, Computer Resources. Before joining Computer Resources, Bruce was an audit manager working primarily with construction contractors. Bruce was a member of the international executive committee of Jeffreys Henry International (JHI), an international association of accounting firms, from 2002 to 2003. He was also the chairperson of JHI’s information technology special interest group from 1999 until 2002.
Bruce received his undergraduate degree from Duquesne University, where he was a member of the cross-country team for four years, and a runner/coach for his final season. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Pittsburgh Chapter and served on that Chapter’s executive committee from 2004 to 2006 and was the chairperson of the information technology committee from 2000 to 2006. He has been a frequent speaker on technology topics at conferences of the PICPA and JHI.
Bob is the Sage Division Manager for award winning SAGE Certified and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Vertical Solutions, Inc. of Pennslyvania. Since joining Vertical Solutions Bob has helped to apply integrated systems technology into both the discrete and process manufacturing industries.
During Bob’s career he has been involved with industrial manufacturing operations that include applications in primary metals, glass (flat glass and container), ceramics manufacturing, paints and chemicals, and food processing. Bob’s business background includes the financial management of corporate operations, project management of industrial equipment installations and general management of industrial fabrication and assembly operations.
Bob earned his MS and MBA at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and is a 2007 graduate of the Katz Graduate School of Business Entrepreneurial Fellows Program at the University of Pittsburgh.
